  • pinit preview none Grand Strand Business Owners Pleased With Busy Summer

Ending summer with a boom, the Grand Strand saw an increased amount in foot traffic this summer compared to previous summers, leaving hopes for the winter months to maintain a steady traffic flow. According to Coastal Carolina University, the Grand Strand had about a 10% gain in the amount of tourist staying in Hotels during the week of August 22-28 than this time last year. And the numbers only seemed to increase as we reflect on the Labor Day weekend, up 14% since the previous year; Myrtle Beach was expected to fill about 75% occupancy. Businesses depend on the summer tourists to carry them through the slower month; with this many business owners suspect since business was up 30% this summer, hopefully business will continue to be 30% through the winter months as compared to 2009 numbers.
